Chateau de Bonaguil, Fumel
Saw this beautiful vivid red and black striped bug
While gazing at the artichoke plants
It didn't emit any of that stinky odor
That it can produce from a gland in its abdomen
It won the Bug of the year in 2000..
Must be like a Ms Universe contest in the Bug world.. lol
Sarlat la Caneda Market Day
Saw an illustrator/artist from England
Sketching on the curbside...
Look at his awesome sketches!!
Abbaye de Saint Nicholas de Blasimon
Built between 9th & 14th century
The monks abandoned it during the War of Religions..
I can almost hear the swishing sounds of the monks' robes..
Maybe that's just the sound of my own skirt..
Brushing against my bag... lol
This medieval square ..
Is claimed to have remained intact from 600 years ago!
The Monpazier villagers wandered one night during the Hundred Years war
To plunder the neighboring town of Villefranche-du-Perigord
Which seemed eerily quiet.
Reason was becos the villagers of Villefranche-du-Perigord
Had gone to plunder Monpazier itself that same night
They then decided to return each other's loot..
Hope they had a little laff about it all too.. lol
I am dreaming of Spring, are you too?
Oh, I forgot, it is already Spring.. lol
In the weeks before Spring bursts
And the most harsh, cold, snappy wintry days seem to be, hopefully, safely behind us
I begin to visualize my garden which I've only seen in my dreams...
Complete with fields of colorful faces
Without me even trying to coax them
Bobbing and swaying with the wind
Where feeding, weeding and watering are not required
And yet everything thrives with robust optimism
And I am allowed the time to continue to do what I love best
Twiddling with my brushes and mucking about with my paints....
All forms of life are stirring from their wintry sleep
Blooming, bursting with new verve and intent
But some have ventured into a forever sleep
Thus we remember their yester beauty, their sweet scent, the way they made us feel
But we have to forge ahead... keeping their memories alive in the special corners of our hearts
In memory of our loved ones who have moved onto another adventure..
To the ones who still hurt from their departure..
This is to remind me that everyone goes through different phases in their lives
And so to embrace each phase
With the understanding that we'll move from one season to the next..
Nancy very kindly brought in her collection of hats
And a beautiful handpainted silk velveteen cloak
For us to paint together
Oh my, how elegant she must have looked
When she was draped in this rich cloak to attend the Operas!
And she let me try it on!
I felt like I transformed into a Countess from The Middle Ages......
It lasted but for a moment! lol
As soon as I took it off
The magic was gone
Can we mentally put on a symbolic cloak everyday
That allows us to step into a different self?
A self that we aspire to be
Until it becomes a new norm of our being?
