Are beginning to be clouded over by soft, gentle, white snow flurries…. Not good or bad..
Just allowing and witnessing the transitions in life the reins of which are not in my hands…
The brush is though…lol

Guess it is therefore not counted as being part of that series…
Sigh… I get bored easily.. can’t imagine painting something 25 times like Monet or some other artist who painted the pond from his house 365 times. 🤣. Good Night Beautiful World 😊⭐️🌙❤️

Talk on Degas..

Sketching from the slides while watching a talk on one of my fav artists, Degas…
Presented by Washington History and Culture..
Something I learnt about the beautiful ballet dancers in his paintings…
They often came from poor families trying to etch a living for themselves through this arduous art form…
Degas often put in silhouettes of men in black in his dancers paintings..
They were wealthy patrons preying on the young dancers…
We have to continue to help educate and empower young girls so they have choices and don’t become victims in their own economic situations.. I want to give a shout-out to all parents who raise their daughters with the same fairness as their sons.. ❤️😊🌙

Sweet, Soulful Distractions...

Did a lunch break painting..
But didn’t get to finish..
I was nearly brought to tears by some beautiful music being played by a Tai Chi master practitioner..
He later came over to see what I was doing…
Soon we were surrounded by a couple of his other friends chatting away…
All this was rounded off by a warm friendly autistic boy who shook my hand again and again…
I didn’t get to finish my painting ..
But I had some encounters with some sweet souls in the open air…
All within a short lunchtime break… 😄. Enjoy a lovely Saturday, dear friends ☀️🦋❤️🌈

Returning to this spot for the 3rd time…
I am thinking about how Monet managed to paint a scene over 20 times in some cases.. It is ok to be repetitious without repeating oneself..I guess .. that is possible … 😙🤣 Good Night Beautiful World… 🌙❤️🌈

What a glorious sky which kept changing while I was painting..
So in the end, my painting is made up of moving moments stitched together…
Some moments a little more subdued while some just a rhapsody of glowing soft colours…
It defies sufficient description in words or paint…
One just has to feel it…
My painting hopefully recorded some feeling of it…

It is befitting that there is a field of wild flowers nearby….
As though representing each sacrificed life..
But now smiling…carefree.. dancing in the wind…
Instead of being huddled in deep, narrow trenches feeling scared, exhausted and bewildered …
On this Remembrance Day….

A Beam of Light...

A beam of light shining across the grass when I first started….
Disappeared almost soon after…
And the bench which was empty when I first arrived..
Was occupied the whole time by a giggling, actively chattering young couple… For that, their silhouette made it into my painting …😀.

Highways of my thoughts...

I painted this from a higher ground the other day
Today I walked down to see it up close…
New reveals of nature’s chaotic convoluted highways of roots, branches, tall grasses and wild flowers …
Yet exuded a kind of collective calm and harmony…
For my heart to beat in tune…
I had to observe what drove past on the highways of my thoughts…
I let them go…
And invited new ones that hummed in resonance with my surroundings ….
I walked back uphill a slightly different person…
