WHOSE RED, SHINING GUITAR?

WHOSE RED, SHINNING GUITAR?-Karlene Bland
Valerie, during her first evening of modeling ever
Did the first pose easy enough
Just looking relaxed and checking her phone for FB messages, comments and endless friend requests

She then wondered what to do for her second pose
"I need to hold something" she said
Trying to look comfortable and cool
"Here! Hold the guitar" I promptly suggested

It was Luis' guitar he had lugged all the way from home in the subway
Along with all his art materials and heavy clay
As he is a sculptor extraordinaire and an artist to boot

Play us a song, I had begged earlier
He doesn't play, he fessed up
How did you come to own this beautiful, red, shiny guitar
Such as one as King Elvis himself might have had?

I just keep it in my room, he said with a sly smile

"Oh? Just to impress the girls when they come over?" I teased
And he broke into a wide grin
You're so busted, Luis!
Looking like a romantic who can perhaps serenade a girl

But anyways, he wins them over with his warm personality
And all the cool sculptures he moulds out of his imagination lurking in his head
I often asks what he is eating that I am not eating enough
To feed my own imagination
What feels a little constipated a lot of times when I call upon it.... sigh

But for that evening, the red shinning guitar
That doesn't really get played
Served yet another grand purpose
In allowing Valerie to have something to do with her fingers and her gaze
While she look like this modeling thing
Might yet be another thing she is borned to do...

BEFORE THE RHODODENDRONS FADE

Picture
I don't usually like going out to paint during the weekend
And have my easel get in the way of the throngs of people

Out with their wives, hubbies, children
Grandmas and grandpas sauntering behind them
Then joined by their incessantly talking and laffing
Cuzins and Aunts and Uncles
Dogs with sticks in their mouths
Charging after getaway balls
That often seemed to be coming in my direction lol

Lawn chairs and frisbees aflying
BarBQ paraphenalia that include
Coolers filled with hot dogs and beer

But last weekend I had to get out to the park
To catch the rhododendrons
Before they get pelted by the impending rain

Early enough when the masses are not  quite out
But many a photographers with their sophisticated paraphernalia
Fit and fab joggers focused on their fitness goals
Moms and Dads to burn the energy off thier little early risers
Daughters guarding their elderly Mothers on walkers
Girlfriends out chatting
While they power walk their problems away

The glint of light sparkling  off the bench is squelched
By a cyclist plonking himself down for a break
From his ride through the quiet woods

And then I see the light dancing in and out amongst the trees
Iluminating the rhododendrons galore
I had come to take delight .....

I often wonder
How God came up with so many colors and designs
For all the things he created
To put on this heavenly Earthly playground for us all......

SIGHTING OF THE CULPRIT

Picture
A sighting has been made of the illusive culprit
Who has nibbled through and inhaled all of my vege seedlings
Before I could accost it and give it a piece of my mind
It scurried away with its mouth unapologisingly full

So if you do see it again
Tell it to leave my vege plants aloooooone!
It can eat all the groundcover and grass its little dear heart desire
But please, to one vegetarian-in-transition to another vegetarian
Tell it to leave my green leafy salads aloooonnne!
Now that I've let that off my chest.....yes, I do feel slightly better

Not as satisfying
As telling it snout to snout
So, thank you for passing the message along
While I go back to watching my salad resprout...

Picture
Showers of glittery sparkles
Shone against the darkened nite
Wish Wosh
You never know what's coming next
Ooh's and ah's accompany each new spew
Our lives can be one stream of shinning light...
Punctuated with explosions of new delights
Let loose, Let be
We're each our own bright, beaming star
But all part of the same spectacular Milky Way......

IT'S GREG'S BIRTHDAY!!

GREG is a special human being
I had the privilege of meeting
At the facility where I did my mural...

Hey hey Greg!
We all sing in our hearts
A very Happy Birthday to you on your noteworthy day
Your friends think of you with much, much fondness
And smiles spread across their face
When they remember your fun, crazy days together
You'll always be a Star in our minds and hearts
You're showing us how to live Theodore Roosevelt's words

"Do what you can with what you've got wherever you are."
So Thank you! ^_^
