​Painting session with newcomers way back in Jan 2020
Class ended with an ovation ..
Showing appreciation for opportunity to play with brushes and colors
Most spoke very little or no English
Demonstrated that the language of love and art know no barriers
I am so glad for this arty diversion for these brave, lovely individuals
Hope it helped a little toward dispelling the uncertainty of landing in a new country and not knowing the language...
May we meet again for another session SOON!

​Stepping out onto my backyard first thing in the morning
To have some quiet moments before the rest of the world stirs
A morning ritual long coveted.. now made more possible and consistent..

My chin pointed to the sky to take in the clouds or lack thereof
My ears perked up to catch the tunes of the day from the birds
I am getting a little more acquainted with my feathered neighbours than ever before...

The surrounding greenery
Contrasting with a sudden pop-up image of war zones
Where kids play barefoot amidst rubble
I humbly put out my big toe to gently tickle the soft, cool dewey grass with gratitude
I notice I am noticing every blade of grass
Even taking time to admire how the violet’s faces
Are painted with nature’s palette of different shades of blues and purples
I notice I have more time than usual to pause..
To admire nature’s sophisticated palette of colours
Thank you to the virus
20 mins’ up
I have a day to get to
But my soul wants to linger..
I can..
