My hope for a warmer April was not to be…
So ended painting from the car 🚗

I heard on the news how this brave Ukrainian man is using his car to ferry out survivors from his home town, Popasna..
Where anything that moved was shelled…

May his moving vehicle be protected from any attacks…
May his courage continue to reign over his fear…
While I sit in the warm comfort of my car 🙏🏽💙💛🇺🇦🕊

I return to the place I’ve been before..
But it looks a little different and a little unfamiliar..
Guess it was in a different time, a different season of a different year..
I am a little different myself…
Influenced by the happenings between now and then..
Some welcomed, some not as much…
But I know it will all seem good…
When I stand back far enough… 😂
I look up and it has started to snow… in April? Stay warm, dear friends

Usually much prefer to paint standing…
But had to take shelter from the strong winds…
Didn’t see a painting in this scene at first..
But then saw the dancing shadows on the ground…

Surreal that I experience so much peace while painting this…
While knowing there is so much suffering and destruction in another place like Ukraine…
May this bubble of peace I am fortunate to be enveloped in…
Grow larger and larger to drape over our entire globe of humanity…
May there be quietitude…
May there be loving kindness…
May we see each other as part of the same fabric of life…
May love prevail ☀️🌈🙏🏽💙💛🌻

After painting with my 93 year old student…
I stopped to do a painting on the way to the grocery store…
Sigh… supper was late😆
Grateful my family is accommodating…
Otherwise, they have to put up with a grouch😂

Bless Poland...

Completed Lempicka master copies …
Seeing my work hanging in a public space..
A lady reached out to commission me for a couple of paintings..
When she came to collect her paintings..
Learnt that she is Polish and has family in Poland ..
She had had plans to visit Ukraine having found a local Ukrainian tour guide…
I would have loved the name of this personal tour guide myself!
My client has no contact with this tour guide at this time..
Who I hope is all right…
But her pride in showing off her country has been pulverized into nothingness…

I asked my client to convey our thanks and gratitude to her Polish friends & family on our behalf ..
For looking after the Ukrainian refugees…
We can make financial donations…
But they are donating finances, time, warm beds, hot food, listening ears, open compassionate hearts, shoulders to cry on…

Bless all surrounding European countries opening their hearts and homes to the Ukrainian people fleeing from their pulverized beloved country … 🙏🏽☮️🇺🇦🌻💙💛🕊
