Solo Show, Fireside Lounge, Art Gallery of Burlington

I have an embarrassing story to tell… we had gone every summer to the cottage to spend time with cousins and their children for many years. After dinner, the kids would run all the way to the beach carefree and excited. I stayed behind to clean up after dinner and then proceeded to prep for the next day’s meals.


One evening, I decided to follow the kids to the beach and there I saw the most heavenly show on earth! I gasped in disbelief that I had so concentrated on making healthy meals for my family that I missed the glorious sunsets all those past years.


These spectacular shows, I learnt, lasted for only a few minutes at times. I began to plan our dinners earlier and would rush down to the beach, before the kids even, to try and paint the sunsets.


Thus began my quest to make everyday simple and give priority to capturing those magical moments.


This series is based on the many sunsets I’ve taken in during my walkabouts and travels.


It is my hope that my paintings serve to transport any viewer, who takes eyes off their busy schedules even for a moment, to a place of calm, be reminded of our beautiful world and may their hearts feel full and expanded as a result.
