I'll BE LETTIN' HER GO

My baby girl
Is talking about the time when she will go to university
She's morphing from a delicate nymph 
To a sophisticated sweet butterfly
She's wildly excited
She's just so delighted 
At the prospect of living away from home

From the smile on her face and the soft look in her eyes at me
She wishes for me to know 
It's not because she doesn't love home

It's just that she's so keen to try out her wings
To see how well all that preparation that has gone into forming them
Will lift her over bumps
Mysteries and challenges that come with life

I guess I should feel proud that
She's looking forward to that phase in her life
With wide eye wonder and exhilarated anticipation 
Instead of nervous trepidation
That she feels confident enough to step into the big, wide world
To face new adventures and to make new connections
Outside her own little familiar family

I've held her hand and now she knows I hold her heart
I am just gonna have to let her go
Because I love her so much.....
